Rannsachadh na Gàidhlig 8 a' toirt àrd-urram do annas-làimhe 'Illeasbuig

Gilleasbuig to set the tone at this year's glittering Rannsachadh na Gàidhlig conference

Chuir Gilleasbuig bochd tagradh a-steach airson Rannsachadh na Gàidhlig, co-labhairt àrd-urramach cho cliùiteach 's a th' ann an saoghal na Gàidhlig high-register.

'S beag a' dh'fhios a bh' aige gun rachadh gabhail ris an abstract aige - chan ann airson òraid àbhaisteach, ach chaidh an t-urram a b'àird' a bhuileachadh air: poster session!

Nise coma leibh na seiseanan plenary, tha fhios gur  h'ann an còir nam postairean a gheibhear an gliocas as bhàidhbrant agus as coimhead-air-adhart a tha ri fhaotainn ann an saoghal na Gàidhlig.

Seo agaibh an sàr-thagradh a rinneadh le Mgr. Aotrom còir:

“The potential for quasi-autonomous non-governmental organisations to expand in a minority language setting, a case study: Scottish Gaelic”

This paper, based on extensive personal study and adhering to the highest academic standards, will examine the successful colonisation of Scottish Gaelic by a large and diverse group of Government  (both Edinburgh- and Westminster-based) agencies, which has led to the highly-effective marginalisation of the small remaining number of native speakers and the creation de novo of two overlapping language communities: a small but self-sustaining academic elite, and an expanding cadre of qualified salaried professionals working in the Gaelic revival industries.

Mention will be made of how the colloquial spoken Gaelic of native speakers has been successfully supressed, to the point where it is effectively vestigial.

There will be a short break, featuring an exhilarating mix of traditional music, Gaelic song, dance, art and media.

Nise chàirdean, beat that mar a chanas iad! Nach math gum faca luchd a'
cho-labhairt gun robh na bha siud de ghliocas ann an sàr-obair 'Illeasbuig.

Chi Gilleasbuig ann an Dùn Èideann sibh!

  1. Hello,
Govt agencies? Who are these Edinburgh based agencies?
Academics? Who are they? How many? 5? 10?
    How are they self sustaining?

Can you enlighten us - otherwise, we, the public - are in the dark! Intrigued by what you say.

    1. Hi Seonaidh! Thank you for your continued patronage. Gilleasbuig Aotrom regrets that he was, at the last minute, unable to attend fabulous Rannsachadh na Gàidhlig due to procedural matters (he is currently reviewing operational and blogging-support activities across all UK offices, with a view to creating a central blog-administration function in the Public Bar of the Royal Hotel, Portree)
